Eye4Eyes

This is my first personal board I created for my company, Eye4Eyes. The inspiration for my board can be described as "Alice in Wonderland meets the real world". My board involves the nautical theme from my company inspired by the traditional style of sailor and pin-up girl tattoos. Since I want to become a tattoo artist after I finish school, the tattoo element plays a big part in my company and my designs. A lot of what I draw is inspired by what I see on the internet and in magazines.

The materials I used were spray paint and paint markers. When I was nearly done my board I added highlights to the figure’s skin. I created a highlight on the tentacle by using a white paint marker, smudging blotches using my finger. This technique gave it the final look of reflecting light on the figure’s skin, the tentacle and the bunny. The colors I used really made my board pop by adding the highlights. With the technique of smudging the paint marker with my finger, texture and dimension was added to my board. The tentacle creates movement on my board that guides the viewer’s eye from the top of my board through the rest of my graphic.

Personally I really liked this graphic and I’m really proud that I learned how to press and shave down my own board. I’m also really happy that I figured out that I can smudge paint marker to create a highlight as well as to add shading to my board.
