About Oasis Skateboard Factory
Oasis Skateboard Factory is an alternative high school program for at-risk youth where students earn credits by running a skateboard and design company. Part of the Toronto District School Board, the OSF program is designed by teachers Craig Morrison and Lauren Hortie. They create opportunities for youth to practice art and entrepreneurship through hands-on, real-world experience. Since their inception eight years ago, OSF has seen a 95–100% pass rate per semester, which is an exceptional success rate for students who might otherwise have not earned their high school education.

The Anomaly/OSF Partnership
The Anomaly/OSF partnership is an innovative business program that began in September 2013. Through mentorship and collaboration, students work with the team at Anomaly to create and build their own unique skateboard brands. Students visit the Anomaly office on a monthly basis, where they meet one-on-one with mentors to collaborate and craft their brand vision, logo, and merchandising/marketing strategy. The students then take this information away and build their own branded skateboards, longboards, miniboards, and accompanying merchandise such as tees, socks, and stickers. Instead of a final exam, they are evaluated based on their final presentations and displays at the Pop-Up Shop.

About the Pop-Up Shop
The annual event, titled “The Youth Are Revolting: A Pop-Up Shop & Graduation Celebration”, marks the official public launch of the 2017 OSF student brands. Each student will be showcasing (and selling) their uniquely branded skateboards and accompanying merch made with Sugarbomb and Peace and Cotton. The event will also feature the release of a pro deck and merch collaboration with Ottawa-based illustrator Way Bad. Admission is free. Merchandise can be purchased with cash only.
